Will the college football playoff bring us excitment or just be a failure?
Will the College Football Playoff be a Success or Failure????
From early August till now many college football fans wondered about this new playoff system if it will work or just cause problems. There were many debates in how the selection committee will choose the four teams. Now that the first season has wrapped up, and we now know who will be in it I finally think they got it right with the exception for one team being in it. This years playoff matchups are going to be very interesting and exciting. The one I am looking forward to that I believe most will be watching is the Oregon Ducks taking on the Florida State Seminoles. The one matchup will be the battle of the current Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota taking on the former Heisman trophy winner Jameis Winston. This game will allow NFL Scouts to see the big time quarterbacks play in a big game and how they handle the situation. This game will have a lot of fast pace offensive plays on one end, and on the other side a team who likes to control the clock and eat it up. The Oregon Ducks run at least seventy to eighty plays a game and the Florida State Seminoles only run about fourty to fifty plays a game . The one problem I think Florida State will have is keeping up with the no huddle offense of the ducks.
Oregon's offense runs plays in about six to seven seconds which gives a lot of teams problems in keeping there defense fresh with players. Even though the Seminoles are a very athletic team they haven't played a team like this before. If the Seminoles get there star running back Karlos Williams back from Concussion they will be able to open up the field incase they took mix up the plays. Oregon is very athletic on both sides of the ball but the one issue I see them having now is in there secondary, Oregon suffered a huge loss when there star cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu suffered a torn ACL injury. Oregon has plenty of depth at that position but nothing like the talent of the young gentleman. It will be a huge question in who will cover Florida State's star wide receiver Rashad Greene who is the playmaker. Greene will allow the Seminoles to throw the deep threat balls if needed. The weakness I think Oregon has is stopping the run. They have very fast lineman but not big ones which can be an issue. It will be a very interesting thing to see in how Oregon will get pass that big offensive line which is a average of 350 pounds. It will be a true test for the Ducks to see if their speed will be an advantage against the Seminoles. Another area of what can change the game in a quick minute is the special teams. The Seminoles are very good in special teams in where they cause many turnovers they at least average one or two a game. The Ducks are one of the best in the country on special in gaining yards and are very careful in protecting the football.
Overall, this game is going to be a very tight matchup the one who makes the first mistake I think will take advantage of it. I just don't think the Seminoles are going to be able to handle the speed and quickness of the Ducks. Oregon I believe plays in a better conference in the Pac 12 in the opponents they play throughout the season. Most people have the Seminoles losing by seven or more but I think it will be even closer. The final score will one or two points that I think it will be a last second field goal to win the ball game and send the winner to the championship game. The final result will be the Oregon Ducks will be advancing to the finals and competing in the first national championship playoff final in Arlington Texas.
