Tonight the Knicks stepped up and defined of what type of team they have been all season long !!!
Tonight the New York Knicks came up with a huge victory against a very good Milwaukee Bucks team that is battling for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks came back from twelve down in the third quarter to take the game over in the fourth quarter and came out victorious with a 96-86 win that they played bad in the first three quarters of the game and bared down in the fourth to hold a very pesky bucks team to a team low thirteen points in the fourth quarter. The Knicks recieved key contribution from three of there all star players with Carmelo Anthony having a game high 25 points which is his 31st consecutive straight game of 20 plus points which is a new record in the organizations history. Tyson Chandler had a huge game for them in a season high and his first with the Knicks of having 20 rebounds which lead to the team having many second shot opportunites to keep them in the game. Also another key contributor was Amare Stoudamire who had 17 points and seven rebounds who looks like the old Amare from the past of when he played with the Phoenix Suns. The Knicks have been struggling with there defense by allwoing teams to have a high shooting percentage which coach Mike Woodson doesnt want to see anymore. This problem continued tonight which caused them to play from behind most of the game leading up to the fourth quarter. When battling back the defense turned up a notch and had made key stops when it needed to which lead to many fastbreak points and easier shot oppurtunites for the Knicks who were surprised to see this. What was also key for the victory tonight was the contribution from the bench especially from J.R. Smith who in my opinion should have been selected to the All Star game this year. He gave the Knicks 17 points coming off the bench this was big for him since he has been struggling as of late. This is maybe the turn around he needed to gain the confidence he needed to how he was playing earlier in the year. These are the games that they are going to need to win in order to gain confidence as the season plays on. There is no time for rest as the Knicks will be right back at it and get ready for the Sacramento Kings come into town. The Knicks will look for revenge as they lost a heartbreaker to them last time out in Sacramento at the buzzer.
The Knicks have a couple of games coming up they should win that these are sub five hundred teams they are the Kings, Pistons, Wizards, and Timberwolves. Even though these teams are under 500 they cant be taken lightly and need to take these games seriously. The toughest test will be against Timberwolves who have been playing decent basketball the past couple of weeks. Next Sunday they have a huge matchup against one of the top contenders in the Western Conference which is the L.A. Clippers this will be a true test in seeing how they can matchup against a very tought opponent. The Knicks are slowly coming together in playing the same way like they did in the beginning of the year. The bench players and starters are contributing very much in when they need the most. This team is much improved with size in the middle of the paint and scores that Carmelo Anthony didnt have in the past. They are enjoying playing for Coach Mike Woodson who has brought the attitude of not letting people run all over them. Last year this team would of given up in teams that blown them away this year they have the mentality of never giving up and always to play hard to last whistle and buzzer. In the past couple of years the Knicks use to be the joke of the conference. Now that they have these All Stars as part of the team many teams are given a true test because of how the Knicks keep coming and dont give up. The Knicks are slowly getting healthier again with Shumpert, Stoudemire back in the lineup has helped them so far. The Knicks should be getting Rasheed Wallace and Marcus Camby back with in the next week or so depending on how the healing is going. I think this Knicks team is a very special one that will be even more help to give Tyson Chandler some rest if they are going to make a push for the NBA title this season we will have to wait and see. I think they will end up as the number 2 seed or maybe even the number 1 seed depending on how other teams are playing. They have the mentality of not backing down which i love about this team i think this will help them in the long run.
I will be back tomorrow night after the huge mathup in college basketball between Michigan and Indiana. This should be a classic matchup that i think will come down the wire and will have big implications when it comes to tournament time.
